ModelTree version 2.7.2 and later
This article step by step describes the process of importing the rent roll data to a single asset. However, ModelTree allows you to do multi-asset import. To learn more about this, please go to Import Wizard - Multi-asset import.
- Click the Import from Excel button on the RentRoll tab menu.
- If it's your first time importing via Import Wizard - ModelTree opens a dialogue window so you can choose the folder/file you want to be imported. Choose a file and click Open.
For the next time importing, ModelTree opens the Excel Import Wizard window with the rent roll file uploaded (the recent one) and the last mapping settings you used. - After choosing the file, ModelTree opens the Excel Import Wizard window. Below you can find a description.
- 1. File path
- 2. Mapping template
- 3. Mapping description
- 4. Data range
- 5. Excel preview - You can choose a certain excel sheet you want to be imported from the Sheet Name dropdown and even set the data range.
- Choose Mapping template or Create New by clicking + button. In this article, you can learn more about How To Create a Mapping Template.
- Select the Building where data must be imported. By clicking this symbol against the Building field you can choose 2 options:
- Map to value - choose the building manually where data must be imported;
- Map collection to collection - if the rent roll contains a column with buildings, you can choose this option and allow ModelTree to assign premises to indicated building/buildings automatically. - Please check Target (ModelTree) and Source (Excel) fields. Example:
- Data from column G with column name Area (Excel) will go to Area column in ModelTree rent roll.
- Data from column L with column name Tenant name (Excel) will go to Tenant column in ModelTree rent roll.
You can click this symbol against any field and tune its behavior. There are available options:
- Map directly - import data directly from the mapped column. Example: area values.
- Map collection to collection - to map items collection from Excel with the ModelTree dictionary collection. Example: use types. (NOTE: available only for dictionary-related fields).
- Map to value - to map all imported items to a certain dictionary value. Example: Use Type. Map all items to Office use type. (NOTE: available only for dictionary-related fields).
- Remove mapping - to delete the selected field from the mapping
You can further tune collection to collection mapping. Depending on the field you choose you see default mapping defined by ModelTree Import Wizard. You can tune them individually.
Example: Lease Type
ModelTree auto-assigned Fixed Lease Type to a Fixed logic.
Some imported items have blank cells in the Lease Type column. As it is a mandatory field, you can choose the target logic you want all blank cells to be mapped to.
If you see alerts, the following article will help you identify the reason for it and to fix the error. Import Wizard - Alerts. - Click Prepare button in the top right corner of the Import Wizard window. This function will run validation and check current mapping and file on potential errors. If the button is disabled - there is one or more alerts that must be fixed. To learn more about alerts, please follow the link Import Wizard - Alerts.
- When validation is finished, the Import button appears instead of Prepare button. Clicking the Import button will run importing process. When the process is finished, you can close Import Wizard, or continue importing data (from another sheet, or to another building, for example).
